Ustaad is 1999 Malayalam film directed by Sibi Malayil, and written by Ranjith, starring Mohanlal, Indraja, Divya Unni, Narendra Prasad, N. F. Varghese and Vineeth. This film was produced jointly by Shaji Kailas and Ranjith under the banner of Country Talkies. Ustaad revolves around the life of Parameshwaran, who leads a dual life, of a high profile businessman and of an underworld negotiator and was well received at the box office and ended up as huge hit. The films begins with the arrival of Parameshwaran alias Ustaad (Mohanlal) in Hyderabad to settle a financial deal with his old partner Yousuf Shah (Rajeev). After completing the deal, though with his muscle power, Ustaad reaches back in Kozhikod, his hometown. There he is an adorable brother, who is also a foster father to his younger sister Padmaja (Divya Unni). Parameshwaran maintains a low profile as a businessman in Kozhikode, but is ventured into several areas including realty business. As the plot progresses things go wrong affecting Ustaad's life which enrages him and he swears to finish off his enemies.
